All,
Just a short note that the New Old World Theater will be performing at September Storm. For this event they will be presenting the Stage Struck Yankee, a comedy which features period props and lighting.
This performance will be for participants after the Saturday Evening Dusk Battles.
The NOWT has presented several programs for WMHF in the past, including the highly praised Ourr American Cousin at the Summer of '62 event in 2005.
We look forward to seeing them again.

Update-
We currently have over 400 pre registered, the majority of which are Federal- Yea!
Anyhow, if you are one of the invited CS participants, we encouarge you to register ASAP since there are no CS walkons and we are limiting the event to 2000 troops total.
Thank you,

Mr. Anders, have you chosen a civilian coordinator for September Storm yet, and will you be capping the number of civilians at this event?
Many thanks,

Laurel,
We have assembled a team of Civilian Coordinators. They are Victoria Kent and Krystin Contant.
We are not planning to "cap" the numbers attending, however if civilian registration exceeds managable numbers, then we will ahve to explore that option.
Currently there are Approximately-
700 Federal Military
360 CS Military
50 Civilians
We are capping US participation at 1200 and CS at 700.

I haven't seen one but I'm pretty sure Chris has closed the CS side so no more registrations are available to CS impressionists.
Did you manage to preregister?

A 1st National Confederate Flag hand made by John Pittsenbargar has been donated by the North State Haberdashery, valued at $350.00. This will be 1st prize for the number one fund raiser for the Gen. Garland March , Sept 6-7, 2007. Each marcher is to seek sponsors for the 8 mile march, with the greatest fund raiser getting the flag. All proceeds are donated to the South Mountain State Battlefield. All checks are to be made out to "WMHF" Western Maryland Heritage Foundation and are tax deductable. Minimum donation for march is $50.00, in 1997, the top fundraiser was $750.00, and in 2002, $550.00.
Arriving on Sept 6th to the reenactment site for Sept Storm at 4 pm, troops will be shuttled up to Turner's Gap for drop off, no powder or caps in boxes. Troops will march from Turner's to Fox's Gap and bivouac for the night at the NC South Mountain Monument. Period rations will be distributed, there is nothing like experiencing a night on South Mountain where the 20th & 23rd NC fought hand to hand with the Ohio boys.
For those of you that need more info go to: www.wmhf.org and click Sept Storm, then go to preservation and the 145th Preservation March . Or you can go to www.13thnc.com for further info. Registration to the Sept Storm reenactment is a seperate fee.
Many thanks to North State and Rex Hovey and gang!

Gentlemen, I am in the process of looking into the possibility of renting a bus for the trip down to the Sept Storm event. The starting point will be in the Western New York area with an additional stop somehwhere in the PA/NY line possibly further south. If youve ever ridden a bus to a long event, you know when you factor in the cost of gas, the availability of watching movies on the way down and back, having a bathroom on the go (for number one), and the fact that you can rest and relax not having to drive.........well in my opinion its worth it. I do not have a price on a bus, in fact I dont even have the availability as of yet....I am putting out feelers to see if theres anybody in the area that would be interested in partaking!?!?!? Feel free to shoot me an email: unionprivate@verizon.net I am getting numbers together....so if your interested, let me know. Thanx

Lest you get discouraged, let me bring up the obvious just in case: Buses come large and small, you don't need to set your sights on 80 men and 8 horses to make the rental work. Even if you get six guys interested, renting a big van and sharing the driving is still a better deal than six guys driving on their own.

True, very true. At the present time, the 140th NY, 149th NY, and 49th NY will be falling in with the western brigade at the event. Im thinkin more along the lines of 20-30 men just in those groups alone. Then, add those men who are interested that live along the way of our travling route or who will meet at a predetermined pickup spot......Im thinkin maybe close to 40 or so men.

Hey Gil,
I planned my R&R leave (from Afghanistan) so I could see my daughter go to her first day of school; but it worked well for this event also. I'll be there hopefully with my restocked original Enfield from Lodgewood. Needless to say I can't wait for Sep for many reasons. Wish you could be there too. Take care!

Does anyone know if you receive anything back after registering for Sept. Storm? Such as a confirmation letter or anything. I only sent my registration in a few weeks ago but I am nervous with the registration reaching its cap that I won’t get in.

Gents and Ladies,
Here are the latest updates from the event-
- Major Change- we are eliminating the Sedgewick's Advance Scenario on Sunday, and moving the "Eye ball to Eyeball" scenario to 8:30am, and making that the public battle for Sunday. The reasons for doing so are as follows: A- it is easier to pull of 3 good scenarios than 4, and I would much rather see 3 excellent ones than 4 so so battles. B- it gets the road warriors back on the raod by 11am on Sunday so that most can go to work on Monday. C- We chose to do this to allow our Western Brothers to still do the portrayal they are coming for. The web site will reflect these changes shortly
- Sporting Events- We have purchased many period field games for use at the event. There will be a designated field that will be "neutral", and folks can engage in period games run by our civilian coordinators (Victoria Kent and Krystan Contant). These Games include Trap Ball, Quoits, Lawn Bowling, Shuttlecock, Tug of War and many others. This area will be clearly marked, and please experience another aspect in the culture of the 1860's
- Civilian Activities- Shortly the updated information for Civilians will be posted on the event web site
- Web Site- Shortly there will be posted a list or registered participants, updated schedules and site maps. Give us a week or two and this will be availible to you.
- Registration- No kidding here folks, we are almost topped out, with maybe 200 military slots left. And when we close registration, we mean it is closed. So if you are waiting on something, don't or the train wil leave you behind.
- Event T-shirts- WMHF has September Storm T shirts for sale through Chris Daley (www.cjdaley.com). Check them out, and all proceeds from them go to preservation.
We only had a small run made, so once they are gone, that is it!
-New World Theatre Company is coming to put on "Stage Struck Yankee" Saturday ngiht, and we have a much larger tent than last time (40 by 120) coming so folks will not have to stand outside trying to see the play. This is another huge hit, and we look forward to seeng them there.
- Work Days- There are many coming up, and by taking ownership of your hobby and pitchingin, together we can make a better event for all of us. The Following Dates are set - July 21st, August 11 and Then August 25 and September 1st. We meet on site at 10am- and WMHF provides drinks and Lunch. The Federals had a great turn out at the last work day, and that support is greatly appreciated. For the work days we will be clearing brush, staging water tanks and finish building the "Sharpsburg Pike"- So do bring work gloves, Weed eaters, chainsaws and other brush cutting gear. Email me at ltcolcsa@hotmail.com if you can help us out. Sweat Equity is greatly appreciated.
All for now folks, go to the web site at www.wmhf.org to check out the web site, and look for the updates there shortly.
Pards,
MuleyGil

Gil, Congrats on that time spent over here. Hopefully you had enough breaks to get back to the fatherland and family to make it bearable. I'd say if your home in time head to Chickamauga. It happens that weekend! But you'll probably want to spend that weekend getting reaquainted with family! Wish you were going to Sept Storm. I'd like to meet you IRL. I won't be out ogf hee until early next year. Maybe we'll meet after I retire from the Army of Me next year! (Seems this is what it has come too!) Take care Mike
