Folks,
I just have to tell the civil war cybor populace about a really great experience I have recently had with a vendor.
Chris Henderson makes Flag Poles, Crates, Hardtack Boxes,Field Desks, Trunks, Pikes, Flag Poles, etc..
You name it if its made out of wood and he can document it he will make it.
Not only make it, but make it with original tools, by hand with the same constuction and finish as the originals.
I ordered a table from him, it was made with all hand tools, cut nails, proper finish and it looks great. Not only that but it was only 75.00 and he had it to me in a week and a half.
I have ordered a field desk and oyster crate from him and I am going to have him make me another table.
Chris, GREAT work, GREAT customer service, and GREAT price.

I will second that. I have purchased a couple flag poles from Chris and both are top notch. His customer service cannot be beat and he is a heckuva nice guy as well.
Best regards, Bill.

I agree. Having seen his products first hand, I would say the craftsmanship of each piece is second to none.

It's only taken me too long to jump on this! I received a drop front field desk and table from Chris and they are both wonderful. He was great to work with on getting exactly what I wanted and even followed up to make sure I not only received them after they were shipped but also after the first event I used them at. He has great customer service. I look forward to some other projects we talked about in the future.

I have known Chris my entire life and have grown up reenacting with him since we were little kids. Not only is he a wonderful guy, he has a wonderful work ethic and excellent customer service skills. His woodworking skills are amazing and I am so proud of him!! Please pass his name around, I can second and third and forth the quality of his work.

Another nod of great work to Mr. Chris Henderson.
Kiev Thomason made a civilain style pistol holster for me for Outpost 3 and he used a Chris made wooden finial piece to close the top loop. I like the small detail that it adds.
Good job Chris!

Mr. Henderson made me an oyster crate that is so handsome that my wife allows me to display in just inside our front door. I don't have too many pieces of reenacting gear that meet THAT standard!

Combat field test of the above items passed 4.0 at Outpost. Fantastic skill. It looked like it was worth being a staff officer just to put your papers in the field desk...;)

Doug, what's funny is that I built two of those 10th Wis. desks; one was for Terry and one was for Kurt Loewe. After the return from Mills Springs, he (Kurt) said that his wife tripped, fell on the desk and required stitches. The desk held up well only needing minor repair. (I hope you're wife healed well, Kurt) I laughed till I stopped on that one. Thanks everybody! I really do appreciate the kindnesses.

Chris,
Thanks for the concern for my wife. She is fine. It is pretty funny to look back at the hospital visit when the doctors asked how it happened and with a jerk of the thumb towards me she said "one on his stupid boxes hit me". Note her not taking any of the blame.

I bought one of the used ammunition boxes from Chris at the end of Outpost. Very nicely made box, at a great price. It will certainly get use in the future, and I will be going back to Chris for future purchases.

Mr. Henderson-
Are you an approved vendor yet? If so, then you are sure on your way to being a bigtime candidate from all of the great things I've seen, read and heard about your wares. ;)
Maybe I'm not seeing your name on the list... if so, mea culpa.
Look forward to doing business with you in the future, sir.
Great stuff -Johnny

Chris,
I looked at the web site Looks great. I too was impressed with Sorchy's desk. You do not have any prices on the website . Could you give us an idea how much some standards are so we can have some sort of idea????

In order to stay in the good graces of AC land, if you want pricing, email me. One of the things I love doing most is talking with people and getting what you need on a personal level. I have made more friends through my business than money (believe it or not) and it has been well worth it.
Mr. Lloyd, first, it was an honor to serve with you at Outpost. Thanks for making the numerous sacrifices you did to make down to get your coffee stole. Second, no, I'm not an approved vendor as of now. I am apprehensive about the changes in my workload if said approval does occur.
Folks, I only get to work in my shop for three nights a week and an occasional weekend due to being a full time cabinetman (I drive a truck and throw cabinets in houses) and a husband and father of three. I also try to make 7 or 8 reenactments a year (mainstream and authentic) so when I get more than 4 or 5 orders at once, I get swamped. What really helps is when my customers come to me with realistic expectations of how long it takes me to do stuff and when they are going to need it. If I rush my work, it turns out like crap and then I have to remake it cause, let's face it, if I wouldn't use it, I wouldn't expect you to either. I literally burned the first table I built because I didn't like the way it turned out- no joking, I busted it up and threw it in my woodburning stove 2 winters ago and my it was toasty! I really appreciate all the praise everybody and look forward to continuing to supply the hobby with my wood.;)

If you have purchased a hardtack box from me, the stencil on the lid is not correct and in an effort to produce the most accurate reproductions, I have done research and cut a new stencil that I am proud of. It is spot on! If you have purchased one of the boxes from me and would like to have me redo your stencil with the new, correct one, just ship me the lid with a return shipping label and I will scrape off the old paint and apply the new stencil at no charge! All you end up paying is the round trip shipping! To see the new stencil, go to my website.
Mods, if you don't approve of me making this kind of announcement, I understand if you delete this post or do whatever other kind of reprimand is necessary. I just want to make sure that I'm giving everyone who has bought one of the boxes from me to have the opportunity to get it fixed right!

I just received my drop front desk from Mr. Henderson. Like I told him, I've been sitting here looking at it trying to come up with the proper adjectives to describe it. What a fine piece of furniture. Mr Henderson's customer service is first rate. During the process he kept me informed of how the project was progressing and even included pictures. I feel like I was part of the process. He took my ideas and went completely beyond my expectations. I can't wait for him to build my next idea. Great work, Chris. Thank you.
