View Full Version : Log In Problems

This afternoon and evening, I've noticed that every time I come to the forum, I'm signed out, and need to sign back in, even though I check the box that says to keep me signed in. Linda's having the same problem on her computer. We used to stay signed in almost indefinitely after checking that box.

No big deal, but is it affecting more than just us? Any idea what's going on?

I upgraded our software today - it might have something to do with that. I suggest clearing your cookies and rebooting. See if that resolves it.

That fixed it. Thanks!

Paul,

I am having the same problem on both of my computers. My avatar went away on my post and I am not being allowed to add the avatar. Also if someone post a JPG attachment I get a message that I don't have the rights to access this page.

After rebooting, etc...It is still asking me to log in each time. I'm running Firefox on XP.

Same problem here - and at some other CW related websites.

Yep I am having the same problem. It won't stay signed in.

Yesterday, for most of the morning it would let me sign in, give me the "Thank you for signing in box" and then return me to the opening page, unsigned in. I gave up after several tries and then checked in that evening and while I had to sign in to visit, it let me stay signed in while I was there, and let me read messages. Since last night I can't stay signed in, but so long as I sign in every time I come to the site, it will let me read posts and write posts.

Hope that's helpful,

I'll look into this some more. Not sure what the problem might be but we'll try to get to the bottom of it.

For what it's worth, I had no problem after deleting my cookies and still don't. Linda's deleted her cookies twice and is still getting automatically signed out between each visit. Again, not a big deal, but if that helps to figure it out...

Today is the first time I've been able to loggin and stay in after being redirected since thursday. I deleted the cookies and rebooted Sunday after seeing Paul's advice. I guess it just needed a break. I didnt have a problem on any other sites.

Ditto what Va Trooper said in post 12. :-)

For what it's worth, I am having the same troubles but it is all worth while once you are in. I do hope the problem can be fixed. It just makes life easier:)

Paul,

I can no longer bring up attachements of images. I use three different computers with two different ISP providers and each time that I try to view an attachment I get the following message:

Clsinclair, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I have not added, deleted, or changed any of my settings.

Claude Sinclair

Thanks all, I've posted to vbulletin's community site (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=231584) asking for help on this. I'll let you know what I hear back.

I've made a couple changes to the configuration based upon the support I've received over at vbulletin.

Try it with these changes - if you're still having trouble, let me know over email at paul dot calloway at gmail dot com and I'll take a look at your account.

Is anyone else having trouble staying logged on the site? I haven't deleted cookies or changed anthing else recently and in spite of checking off the "remember me" box I have had to log back in almost every visit lately. Is it just me or has something changed I'm unaware of?

Most sincerely,

Shaun Riedell

Paul,

Did you ever figure out what can be done about those of us that cannot "attach" photos? We discussed this problem some months ago. Sadly, I am still not able to post photo attachments which prevents me from adding some great photos (and therefore even some new threads) to my posts. Any suggestions?

Everytime I close my browser and revisit the forum at another time, I am logged out and have to log in again. Am I the only one this is happening to?

I have been having the same problem with one computer but the other two log on every time. It may have something to do with the Norton antivirus software.

I have regularly used this computer for a few years now. Today I have suddenly begun experiencing the same problem.

Ditto.
Except now, it worked, but I had to log in earlier in the day, each time I visited.

I had no trouble with staying logged in until yesterday.
The Fix seems to have worked.

If some of you are having trouble again, its likely because we just upgraded our forum software to latest version - 3.6.8. When we do those upgrades, it seems to outdate some folks' cookies.

If you're having this problem again, I suggest clearing cookies in your browser again. It should help your browser resolve.

Ken - I'm befuddled as to why you can't upload attachments. I'm going to log in as you and see if I have the same problem as you are.

Ken -
I just sent you an email with a new password. Your account works fine for me, leading me to believe its related to security settings or a popup blocker on your end.

I suggest clearing your cookies and rebooting. See if that resolves it.

Worked like a charm.

I discovered four cookies from this site and deleted them all. The problem seems to have gone away.

For the last several weeks, I have had to log in each and every time that I access the site. Is that the current methodology? This happens even though I've checked the "Remember Me" box and my 'puter hasn't been shut off or rebooted.

I'm on a Mac running 10.4.9 and using Mac's Safari browser.
Any thoughts?
