Date: February 8, 9 and 10, 2008
Organizers: The Independent Rifles
Scenario: February 1863 was an active time during the Vicksburg Campaign. Sherman had attacked the previous December, constant threat of the enemy across and on the Mississippi River showed the need to protect Vicksburg would need to be kicked into full swing. These pleas came on deaf ears even when Grant was developing a new strategy to take the city after his failed overland campaign.

We will portray the life of the soldiers in the trenches of Vicksburg during February 1863. Rations will be issued so a registration form and fee can be given by contacting me at westernpicket63@yahoo.com or by Private Messaging me through the forum. I promise this will be a lot cooler than "Life on the Line" and will be a good warm up for the Picket Post at Raymond in May. The registration cap is set at 45. 20 of those places are already spoken for so act fast.

This event will be taking place on the Vicksburg National Park. All park safety regulations will strictly be enforced.

Again- authenticity guidelines (which will be enforced) along with registration information is available by emailing me at westernpicket63@yahoo.com

Pat that sounds like a good event! I will be doing "The Calm Before The Storm" in January, but I will keep this one in mind. The mosquitoes will hopefully be frozen!

Man sounds awsome, yet I don't think I can make it due to just being elected Lt. COL. because I foolishly set the COI for the same weekend. I need to check the AC more!

All,
Still plenty of places left open. The numbers expected are now dropping to about a small company size effort rather than the 40 originally slated.

Pat,

I be in the area for the weekend and might just stop by to say hello. Too bad my C.S. gear doesn't fit too well anymore, gotta lose that college weight....

I just want to clarify that this event will be a Confederate only living history. There will be a discussion early on during the event as to what had happened in the campaign up unto this point. Again, this is a Confederate only living history.

Don and anyone else interested-

There will be a larger event planned for Vicksburg again. More information will be out as the time gets closer. I had a blast and would love to see that event again.
