Looks like these guys would only sell standard issue British equipment. One thing has me confused. In the infantry accoutrements there appears to be listed "Ball bag, without bottle." Am I misreading this? If not, what the heck is it?

Peter
This "bottle" is the oil bottle which fits inside the Ball Bag

Folks,
This is a great series of equipment quotes here. Just FYI though for clarification, this is Alex. Ross & Co. Note the list for ball bags AND cap pockets/pouches!

Also, for all the horsemen out there, look at the buff cavalry equipment this late in the war.

As Neill points out, this is Alex Ross & Co,the top line on the first invoice reads" Grange Mill Bermondsey"
Alexander Ross & Co started around the late 1700's ( I have an invoice from them buying guns from Brander & Potts in 1802)
Bermondsey in London was known as the " Land of Leather", and by 1792 was producing a third of England's leather.
Major E Anderson visited Grange Mill in 1861 to discuss orders and contracts, and later in the war Maj Minter ( whose name can be seen on this invoice) bought goods from them in Oct/Nov 64 for the TMD.
In 1901 the firm became Hepburn,Gale & Ross, and in 1920 became Barrow, Hepburn & Gale, the firm continued into the 1970.s.
