From Jim Moffett, Western Brigade commander (our regiment for the event):
"Just got word from FFD - the special registration for "At High Tide" through the FFD website has been closed.
If you or your boys have registered - they are still registered: the $25.00 will be forwarded to the AHT event committee. The money for rations & logistics will be returned, less the PayPal costs.
If you have not yet registered, go to http://www.wmhf.org/athightide/registration.html
and do so soon - costs go up on 17 February 2008 to $30.
We still plan to offer rations to the battalion. The members of the Western Brigade voted to do so at the Congress in November. The last time we had a full ration issue was at Corinth in 2005. Much work has been done to make this possible so we can give the men the best, most accurate experience possible. As soon as we tie down the final details, you will be notified of costs. Please note that we will need to collect the ration fees PRIOR to the event, in order to 'bankroll' the procurement of pork, hardtack, etc.
Please tell your men that we intend to offer the most authentic ration issue possible: proper food, delivered into the field in authentic containers; distributed to the men in the proper way. This doesn't leave room for random fellows begging out to the program. All this authenticity costs some money, and the logistics to transport a quarter ton of saltpork, and thousands of hardtack crackers to Pennsylvania will be part of the fare.
Thank you for your forbearance in this matter.
Jim Moffet
Colonel, Western Brigade"
Sorry for the change of word here - I doubt if anyone has registered yet but we need to get on it as the costs do go up to $30 after Feb 17. Anyway as I said in the other thread Charles is running the rations and they will be something special (think sealed hardtack boxes with proper sapling strips, salt pork in the barrel, etc). As soon as I hear more this weekend on the plan I will pass it on.
Until then, register for the event at http://www.wmhf.org/athightide/registration.html
Use the "self registration" link at the bottom and list yourself as either "Jim Butler's federal company Western Brigade" or "Doug Cooper's federal company Western Brigade" and side is "US". Mail the completed form with check as directed.
Thanks gents. Any questions, post here, PM or e-mail.
