Looking for a good pair of civilian shoes...

I'm trying to locate a pair of shoes more appropriate to civilians. I'm not too interested in walking around in brogans! Since my characterization is that of a gentleman, I'm needing appropriate shoes for such.

Any help is much appreciated.

I like the Congress shoes...having not done much study on this, are these a pretty common style for civilians of the time?
