An ad hoc home for AoT troops and unattached others is being formed for At High Tide. Here's the link (http://www.zipcon.net/~silas/andersburg.htm).

---as a side note, with about 1000 soldiers (not civilians or children included in this number) registered to date, the Federals outnumber the CS registrants by about 2-1! I expect another multitude of registrations to show up this weekend since we recently had the fee increase, so hopefully a good number of these will be of the "lighter" color.

Just as at September Storm, we carefully monitor registration to be sure to have correct force ratios, to provide a better experience for all involved.

Silas,

I'm unclear about the impression. Will the Ad Hoc Battalion be portraying Western troops in the ANV or AoT troops detached to support the ANV? I'm always looking for an excuse to do Cornfed.

Dave,

I believe the guiding impression will be Tennesee Troops of Archer's Brigade.

The specific impressions for the scenarios have not yet been assigned. For the first day's scenario, there are the Tennesseans of Archer's Brigade as well as the 13th Regiment and 5th Battalion of Alabama infantry. There are no Tennesseans in the scenarios for Ewell's attack on Cemetery Hill or for the Longstreet's attack on the Wheatfield so "western" is an appropriate designation. I was being intentionally vague by saying, "western."

For example, if given a choice between a South Carolina or Alabama impression, we'll portray an Alabama unit of the ANV.

I think that it would only be right to portray a Louisiana regiment for the 2nd day's impression. The scenario for the 2nd day of the event is the fighting at dusk on Cemetery Hill, and being that it was the Louisianians that were the only ones to break through on Cemetery Hill, who better to portray? Time and time again, it was the Louisiana Brigades of the ANV who would win honor and glory on many battlefieds in the Valley with Jackson, in the Railroad Cut at 2nd Manassas, Gettysburg, Monocacy, and on and on. Plus, Louisiana is only a river away from being a part of the Southwest. If you want a Western State for the Cemetery Hill impression, there you have it. If not Louisiana, then two Eastern States - N.C. and Georgia.

The best regiment for this ad hoc impression for the Cemetery Hill fight would have to be the 2nd Louisiana Infantry, considering that 64% of their rank and file were from States other than Louisiana. Perfect for an ad hoc battalion of living historians coming together from all over the country.

My $0.02

Thanks,

we'll portray an Alabama unit of the ANV.

Silas, If so, I look forward to meeting you on Sunday.

Silas,

I was just wondering if an RDII would be appropriate for the impression. Sounds like it would.

Dave,
An RDII would work just fine.

I'd suggest the 11th Alabama for the Sunday impression - Wilcox' Brigade. The Wheatfield scenario is to end with the meeting of Wilcox and the First Minnesota.

(Not that Barksdale's Mississippians would be a bad choice, either)
