I have a ellery model waltham that seems to loose maybe 3 minutes in a half day. I was wondering if having it professionaly cleaned oiled and adjusted would help and if anyone knows who would perform such a service fr an 1860s watch. I was also wondering where I might find a different case for my watch?

You could try a company called PM Time Services, located in Colorado. They deal in antique watches (thats where I bought mine) and either they could do it for you or direct you to someone who could.

I discovered a great watch maker/repair service "right in my own back yard" last summer. My original had a broken crystal and after searching on numerous on line companies and several local jewelers, I found a young man's name through a local antique shop. Repairing, making clocks, etc. is more of a hobby for him. He is a master clock maker and did ca great job on my little watch. And he is very very reasonable. His name is Jason Hendricksmeyer, 319-524-1301. He lives in Keokuk, IA..and comes highly recommended, you can mention my name :) I asked if he had any 1860's pocket watches for sale, and he does, in the $150-$200 range.

Can't help you with the case (most likely), but I do clean and oil watches for $35.00, you pay shipping both ways.
