All,

Into the Piney Woods: Taylor Retreats up the Red now has a functioning website to point your browsers toward- www.intothepineywoods.com

I'm departing in a few minutes for the Port Hudson event but wanted to get everyone something to look at this weekend and in the days to come.

Updates will be made as needed but I am proud of the hard work done by our webmaster, Ms. Jackie Smith. Thanks too to Bill Treadway for acting as the point-man (as he did for Banks' Grand Retreat) for web issues.

If you aren't already pumped up for Into the Piney Woods, I hope you will be now!

The Texas Ground Hornets look forward to campaigning with many of you in March of 2009.

Kind regards,

JLHurst

Great looking site. Several of us boys from the west coast are looking forward to serving in the ranks of the 28th LA Inf. next year and meeting new comrades.

As a BGR participant (Union) this should be great.

Any idea of when registration will officially start?

Expect word from the Federal commander soon on details for our side.

Fred - a class act to dedicate this event to Steve Boulton. Sitting around the campfire with he and Lo, Silas and Charles one night at BGR is a great memory for me. Steve and the Lazy Jacks have done great things for this hobby on both sides of the Atlantic. He is sorely missed.

He was my friend, it is always beyond the death, it is a big emotion for me this decision, in the name of his friends in England and in France, another faith thank you!!!

I can't get anything to come up other than the home page. Anyone else have that problem?

Gotta double click, a couple of times it seems.

Yes- Doug's advice is correct. Click each link twice. The BGR site functioned that way.

Thanks to all for the feedback thus far.

Cordially,

I'm happy to announce that the event web site now has a live link for the civilian guidelines. Those who are interested in participating in the Piney Woods as a civilian, please feel free to join the google group (http://groups.google.com/group/piney-woods-civilians)for the event. Thanks!

After taking a quick look at the website, I didn't see any mention of cavalry, either US or CS. Is there any provision for mounted folks, or is this strictly a pedestrian event?

Take care,
