Gentlemen,

As some of you may be aware, there is a mainstream Brandy Station event being staged on June 6th-8th on the actual battlefield. The event has been plagued by a variety of issues, but I received the "official" word today from the event hosts that the event is definitely a "go."

With that news, I would like to announce that the 1st Maine Cavalry is forming the nucleus of a c/h/p company for the event. Make no mistake, this will be a mainstream event, and our company will work in conjunction with the other Federal cavalry at the event.

Why should you folks here consider attending? The event will feature a thirteen mile cross country march on Friday that follows portions of the original march route. Friday night the Federal cavalry will camp on the same ground that served as the camp for Buford and his Reserve Brigade on teh eve of the battle. Saturday AM will feature what is very likely the first crossing of Beverly Ford by Federal cavalry in 140 years. The entire event will take place on original ground, and last but not least, all proceeds from the event will be donated to the preservation of the battlefield.

So, if you are of the "horsey" persuasion, and you are interested in attending the event as part of a Federal c/p/h company, contact me at:

Take care,
Tom Craig
