The Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh needs guidance on restoring an Allegheny Arsenal marked limber chest for an exhibition scheduled to open November 8, 2008. The chest has most (70%) of its original paint and most of its hardware. The curators need advice on the box itself as well as how to fill it for display with the proper assortment of Allegheny Arsenal manufactured 12pdr fixed rounds, implements, etc. If there is someone in the Pittsburgh area that could assist with this project, please contact the museum directly (curator Nicholas Ciotola npciotola@hswp.org or 412 454-6371) or post advice here. Any color photos of authentically outfitted limber chests would be greatly appreciated.
