I attempted to use the search function for the first time today and each time ended up receiving this message:

"vBulletin Message

The search term you specified (New) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.

If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific."

I gave up when I had 7 search terms in the box and was still ending up with that message. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, what is a "wildcard?"

The "search FAQ" option contained no help.

I'll take a look at it but I do know that the words you search for need to be longer then 4 letters. It doesnt matter how many words, but if any of them are 3 letters long, the search wont work.

Ahh, then it all makes sense! I was doing a search for something with the words "New York" and the program didn't like the word "New" so it didn't search for anything. Got it. I got an alternate meaning out of the error message.

Is there a way to change that? You will most likely have people in the future searching for New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, &c. They may run into the same problem.

Just a suggestion.

Yes, I've reduced it to three letters. Try it out now.

Also, what is a "wildcard?"

I answered my own question and thought it might be useful to some of those who don't know the answer:

An example of a "wildcard"...

educa*

By typing the word as such, the search function will automatically search for education, educate, educator, educates, &c.

Hoping some of you may find this useful,

I am, Yours, &c.
