Comrades,
The "Into The Piney Woods" event is less than six months away. It may seem a ways off but it will come up faster than you might think. I am raising a company of men from the western states for the Confederate battalion at IPW. I want to invite anyone who is interested to fall in with us. At BGR in 2007 we had soldiers from California, Washington, Colorado, Idaho and Utah. Please feel free to contact me for more information. I am willing to help recruits in any way possible for this fine event. We are going to portray the 28th Louisiana Infantry and more information can be found here:

Bill,
Let me be the first to volunteer. You can count me in the "raw recruit" category. I hope to muster with the 1st Texas soon and get some of the green removed.

Bill and his men came from great distances for BGR and we are humbled to have them returning again for Into the Piney Woods!
For those from the far-flung western territories- sign up! You won't regret it.
Gear can be loaned. Attitude and willingness cannot.

Indeed Brother Russ, the Jaybirds will be attending in full strength along with their known "dander" in attendance to boot.

The Bayou Yeti and I like western folks. They make good soldiers. So do Brits and even those French fellows that told me Paris wasn't in Texas.

Uncle Tom,
If you folks would open up registration fairly soon, some of us in the Bayou Yeti Fan Club & German Shorthair Pointer Benevolent Society would likely register and get on with it. Seeing how those of us in the east are so far removed from the actual seat of the war as well as any battles that greatly affected the outcome of said unpleasantness, we'd like to get a head start on the snail mail. After all, these letters have to cross at least one set of big scary mountains and a few known wide waterways.

Uncle Tom,
The Brits and the French (plus possibly some Germans and Dutch) are coming!!!!! For BGR we raised some 14 recruits to run the Yankee blockade. For ITPW we hope to exceed that number and I'm hoping for 20. Can't wait to be with y'all again.

Pards,
I wanted to get this thread up again. We are still recruiting for Company D of the 28th Louisiana Infantry. We have a solid core of western men ready to go but can always use some more soldiers. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
Best regards,
Steven B

Captain Treadway,
I trust the company is growing in strength so we can support General Taylor's efforts to crush Commissary Banks and his godless Yankee invaders. We will send them back to New Orleans crying for their mothers.
It is rumored that Admiral Porter's gunboats are plying the Red River and Fort DeRussy is threatened.
I will see you on the field at Camp Roberts this week.

Pards,
The registration for IPW ceases on Mon, Feb 16. There are still spots available in our western company and I need to hear from the guys planning on going. There is a group of us driving to LA. We are going to rent a van or an RV depending on the number of people wishing to make the drive with us. The plan as of now is to leave the Friday before the event so we can stop at the Texas Civil War museum, the Mansfield battlefield and any other sites we have time to visit before arriving at the event site on Monday evening. Please contact me right away if you are interested. Please don't wait any longer as time is short. I hope that you will come with us. BGR in 2007 was a trip and event of a lifetime and IPW is shaping up to be the same. These campaign events make it all worth while. Please send me a PM or email me at treadwayhome@gmail.com for more information. We have plenty of loaner gear if you are in need of some items for this specific scenario and we will help any recruits in any way possible.
Pards,
Captain W.S. Treadway
Commanding Company D, 28th Louisiana Infantry
