To all of those brave souls ready to defend the deep south, its people, and its way of life from that dastardly Yankee Sherman and his Brutish mercenaries. The second company, Company B, of the 11th Georgia Militia is calling all men up to join its ranks! Gov. Brown has let it be known that ALL men of Georgia are to defend its borders from the enemy. This comes from his Gub'nor-ship in Milledgeville. The farm leave is up men, it is time to re-gather outside of Griffin and repulse the invaders.

Hood and his army are GONE! They can no longer help our fair state and home. We are all that is left to defend the Empire State of the South! We held the Blue Ogres back at the Gates of Atlanta as long as we could under General Smith, now we are to go out again. Let no man sit at home thinking that someone else will save them form the dire peril that is at our doorsteps! It is YOU that will help defend the lands of your families and forefathers.

Company B is ready to reform! Let us do our duty and honor our commitments to the fair State of Georgia!

(Sign up for Company B boys, Southern minded friends are welcome. You'll have a home with Georgians, Carolinians, and others. Trust me when I say that we'll have a busy time of things!

Folks that feel that they can no longer "campaign" because of their "advanced experience" and "long service" are welcome in my company!

Historically many men who were in their middle age or older were in the Georgia Militia. This is the perfect oppurtunity to be the "correct" type of fighting man in a unique unit impression that is heading done on this type of scale!)

PM me or send an email to: Menion687@aol.com if you are interested or need more info.

Capt. T. White (Herb Coats)
Company B, 11th Ga. Militia

I've had good responses for my company. Thanks guys! Now there is still some room in for Militia-Minded gents. Get those registrations in! I do have cap limit of 37 men. (The same goes for EVERY Militia company)

I will say that the men of my company will have an extra special assignment at the event during the weekend. I'll let you boys know as soon as everyone is signed up....

Also the men that we are portraying were from Sumter and Webster Counties in western central Georiga. And yes Sumter County is where Camp Sumter aka Andersonville is located. (and Jimmy Carter, for those 20th Century historically minded folks.)

Webster Co info online: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gawebste/index.html

And remember to read "Joe Brown's Pets" by Bragg and Scaife. :D

Thanks all,

I'll take Hessians, Persians, Brits, Welsh, Russians, Austrians, Chocolate Labs, Rodan, Democrats, Republicans, Know-Nothings, Gojirra, Ninja Turtles, and even Johnny Lloyds. As you can see Gubb'na Joe Brown needs able bodied men folks to defend the Empire State of the South!!!!

I've got a good core group of militia men signed up. If you are up for a challenge sign up for my company, Company B, at Bummers. Remember folks can my company cap is at 37.

And when I mean challenge I mean a challenge. We'll be doing some things that no one else on either side will do. Bada Bing!

I thought the militia was for the old fat men! All these "challenges" and terrain warnings are not encouraging the old fat men.

Joe, since you survived Sandy Ridges in the Bayou I think you'll be more than fine in Middle Georgia.

Gentlemen,

We have a good line up of commanders on the Militia side. Now is the time to register for this event if you have not done so. This is an impression that to my knowledge has not been done on this scale. Many have expressed a want to do Militia now is the time to act.

Herb, I am working on your list. I actually am getting all the email lists together for all party leaders. Sort of a bonus you might say. Just hang tight, I am over half way there.

Folks,

I am now only accepting mercenaries, known trouble makers, and midgets in my company. Anyone other Militia Minded gent not fitting that desciption should look to the other gallant companies for a place in line to help stem the tide of the Blue Horde.

For those Pards who had not already heard, regarding the co-author of "Joe Brown's Pets":

William Scaife has passed on
By:ron skellie
Date: Friday, 21 August 2009, 6:02 pm
Just learned that Mr. William Scaife died last Monday. His contribution to the study of the War between the States has been enormous. His maps and books are priceless for serious researchers. Personally his maps and books have made my efforts to record the lives of men in the 7th Mississippi and their time in Georgia and Tennessee much simpler. He was a true Southern gentleman and will be missed by all who knew him and have access to his works. We will miss you Mr. Bill.
His obituary can be found on page B7, Atlanta Journal Constitution, August 21, 2009 or at ajc.com

Gents:

I am producing a limited run of bayonets for double barrel shot guns copied from an original that I collected in 1978. Contact me off list if you are interested. Even if I provide the materials, they retail for under $100.00. If you plan to carry a shot gun for either Bummers or any early war event, this unique item is for you! By the way, they also may be fixed to a .69" or turned country rifle barrel with very little adjustment.
