U.S. Model 1855 Bayonet

Here are 2 pictures of my M1855 bayonet with a 2 rivet scabbard. Of particular interest is the center-punch mark above the U.S. There is also a small "s" below the U.S. These markings are associated with the Springfield Armory. Hope you enjoy.

Here is one with just the S. Just curious, what was the source of your info about the center punch mark?

Jim,

The CRRC 2 lists this in their section on the U.S. Bayonet. It also says that the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company had a star between the U & S.
