Gents,
I'm concidering buyin one of Pedersoli's repro shotguns. But I saw in the construction explaination the barrels were lined with chrome. I'm thinking this isn't period? please give me thoughts/facts. And also moderators, if there is a thread on these already please let me know and close this thread.
thanks much,

Hi,
Kyle, talk to Jay about their shotguns. He owns one (if I remember correctly), and he was giving me information about it a month ago.

Kyle,
Hello and Happy New Year!
I have a 12 gauge Pedersoli's repro shotgun. My gun is about 9 years old. The barrels are lined but not that noticeable. I fired it several times and then used a Stainless Steel Shotgun Cleaning Brush and you can’t tell it was every lined. I have stripped the barrel several times over the years and reblued it. I also stripped the stock and refinished it as well. It’s not that hard to defarb the Pedersoli's repro shotgun.

I have a twenty gauge and use standard musket load (65 grains) to live fire BBs at 25 yards. Kick is not that bad and has good pattern.

Load for what Mark, blank firing at reenactment or what a correct periodload would be?

these might help.
If you are asking for period loads most shotguns would have been smaller, 14-16G and there is a seperate thread on this.
I shoot clays with all my guns for giggles and use No7,7.5 0r 8 shot, light load of 1oz lead to 70gr powder in the 12G or 60gr in the 14and 16G.
.58 I count as a 20G, use .75oz shot and 45gr powder.
.75 Bess ball fits a 12G and weighs just over an oz, so it will fire on these loadings. Have done 85gr and got reasonable results too, but it hurts!!
Point is if you are using shot (buck) instead of a single ball lessening the powder by 25 to 30% gives sgnficanty improved and more consistant spread.
we can do clays at 50yrds with these loads.
Rodger, is a BB similar to No1 shot or No2?
I have a pedersol side by sde and have found it to be a realy good gun apart from the fact it uses No11 caps which are a pain in the rear.
