In what has become tradition for the southern portion of the Independent Rifles- We are hosting a WINTER living history at Vicksburg on the first weekend in February. This is a Confederate and Civilian Living History of the actions that took place around the city the winter of 1863. This time period saw the failures of Sherman's assaults near the garrison, and Grant's failure to approach the city overland. Guidelines and additional information to follow.
For Military information please contact me either through these forums or at westernpicket63@yahoo.com Citizen information to follow.

I'm interested, haven't done a Vicksburg LH where I didn't roast. Is this going to be at Fort Garrott?

Pat, I can't respond like I really want to, I'll send that to you in a P.M. However if it doesn't hair lip the Pope we'll be there, AS WE"VE DONE IN THE PAST ! I hope that our lowly presence won't keep worthy most blessed ones from coming now.

Mr. Landrum,
If Cpt Dennis says we are coming and it has been voted on that we are coming, then we are coming. Count Wesley, with rifle now in that number.
Pat, do you want me to lead the 22 mile march in from Edwards to Vicksburg for the event?
Dennis, watch what you say about the Pope.

Pat, I've attended in the past when we camped at the Texas monument. It is a great park and great weather. I hope I can attend!
Thanks,
Wayne

... may definitely ...
Is that anything like "possibly absolutely"?
Sir, you have raised "Hey Man, I'm Coming" to a new level of ambiguity.

Pat - I might be able to make this one, as I need to get to Baton Rouge for a day or two on biz, so if possible, might schedule this to coincide. Send me the civilian info also if available. coop2911@msn.com

Bully sir, bully! That's too funny!! Sorry, I meant that I would have to check with two others to get a general consensus before I could say possibly absolutely who's interested!

All,
This Vicksburg is going to be different than Life on the Line. We will only have one side represented here, and will be in a different location on the park. I am still waiting on NPS approval for several ideas, but plan on some good marching.
Registration information will be on that website- this includes instructions on when and where to send your registration money. As in the past, all remaining fees will be used to purchase equipment to update Vicksburg's interpretive programs.

Guys,
I hope to have a website up for this event by the end of this weekend if not sooner. It will have all the guidelines and registration information. Mr. Landrum always does a great job putting these events together. I am sure this one will be even better than past events.
