Fellers, Does anyone out there have any good websites on federal pioneers in the Eastern Theater? Especially during the Wilderness/ Spotsylvania? Or any good readings out there on pioneers. Any info would be great. Thanks

Two books and one website, have you found anything else?

by Philip Katcher
Diary of a Yankee Engineer: The Civil War Story of John H. Westervelt, Engineer, 1st New York Volunteer Engineer Corps
by John H. Westervelt, Anita Palladino

Do a search on the OR either here:
http://cdl.library.cornell.edu/moa/browse.monographs/waro.html
or on CD, using "pioneer," and "pioneers." You should get quite a few hits. There are several after action reports that describe how pioneers were employed.
