Hello...
I'm in the process of making a pair of linen trousers and thus searching through my button stash.
I found a two bags of vegetable ivory buttons purchased from a friend that travels to Peru frequently. They are the natural creamy color but can be dyed. I have 1/2" four hole and
1" four hole.
Would these work for buttons on trousers fly? are they large enough for the braces buttons? I'm speaking of the 1/2" thinking the 1" are too large????
Thanks

Mrs. Murphy,
My own opinion, I'd say yes they would work. Linen trousers are lighter than wool, so having buttons that won't weigh too much would be desirable.

I have seen on several original linen trousers that utilizes 1/2" vegetable ivory buttons for fly buttons . One the majority of original trousers that I own and have seen, the fly buttons have been a smaller size than the suspender and waistband buttons, which were generally 5/8" or slightly larger.

Thanks Brian...that's what I wanted to know. It seemed they would work fine, just wanted to double check since I don't have any originals to look at.
I have two large bags of these buttons. They are new, made in Peru, and I was hoping I could use them :)
I'm going to check the braces and see if the larger size I have is too large.

It's difficult to tell from the photos, but I'm pretty sure mine are more of a creamy color..
But these would be nice buttons, I"m saving the web site...
Thanks
