ThanksThe last time I checked he had been posted to Iraq. He had a message that stated that he would not be in business until he returned from Iraq. I sincerely hope that he is well!

I hope this is just a problem with his hosting service. He made the absolute best products. I loved the US model tin cup until I lost it at Resaca 2004 in the SUnday Battle :(

Among the best tinware in the hobby is made by my friend, John Peterson, of Otter Creek Tinware. When he has any in stock, the Skillet is the place to get John's dippers. I'm sorta hoping he's working on a Bartholomeo filter canteen he's been talking about making for some time.... :wink_smil

Bill - until the esteemed John P begins to make the filter canteen, ask him about the new coffee pot he copied off an original for James Owens and I. Check out Jim Richmond at Richmondville for the canteen in question. Ivan Ingraham and I have one and they are well made.

Nothing wrong with Otter Creek, he makes some really really nice things, and I may check him out. What kind of mark-up does Mr. Skillet Licker tack onto Mr. Peterson's wares? :wink_smil

I prefer George Pimental and his wares above all. Thanks guys for your help, and now that it was mentioned, I do believe I remember him posting something about a deployment.

Thanks

I have no doubt that anything John sets his mind to make will be well-done. I have several of his Japanned tins that I keep sugar, tea and others items in, and dippers for both Federal and CS. John gave me dispensation to purchase the Richmonville canteen, but I figured I've waited this long, why not wait a little longer?

As to the Skillet's mark-up, I believe Joe is doing no more than making a decent living and providing a real service to the hobby. Others may differ, but Skillet's a good friend, and I purchase from him whenever I need something he has on hand.

...Right now it is a moot point as I am sold out of the dippers until the next run comes around.
