March 16-18, 2012 - The last of the New Madrid Trilogy will mark the 150th anniversary of the Federal occupation of New Madrid.

New Madrid has fallen and is occupied by John Pope's forces. Island No. 10 just upstream will not fall for another few weeks.

We will portray troops assigned as Pope's bodyguard and will be in garrison at the house Pope used for his headquarters. Events will revolve around the typical day of troops with some patrols being sent out looking for stray Rebs and guerillas. Civilians can portray New Madrid citizens, some of which were held captive and sent to Gratiot Prison in St. Louis, while others just tried to survive under the eyes of an enemy conqueror.

How is the planning for the construction of the fortification at New Madrid coming along?
Waiting for the chance to trace the profile and see the work begin.

Rick,

Not too many but you can be one if you want. Most of them had evacuated from New Madrid and moved up to Island #10. There were still a few around that missed the big move-out though. Scattered Confeds plus some of Jeff Thompson's State Guard cav. was still in the area.

Erik,

Haven't forgotten you on this. Just need to find someone that can make a copy of the drawings - they're on pretty big paper - and I'll send them to you. I still have your address. Was thinking about it this week as a matter of fact. I'll try to make some progress on that next week.

Thanks for keeping me in the plan.
There are ways to digitise the plans and send them as CAD data.
Keep on with this marvelous concept.
