You may have noticed the scrolling marquee near the top of the page with AC News Headlines.
I'm not sure if thats the place to actually put that yet, let me know what you think.
Incidentally, if you want AC News Headlines on your own website all you have to do is add this little snippet of code:
<_script src="</SCRIPT">http://www.authentic-campaigner.com/forum/news/newsmarquee.txt"></SCRIPT>

Paul,
I gave it a try on my site and it didn't work.

Jim -
You said it didn't work... can you be more specific? Did you get an error or anything?

I pasted the code into my website and when I load the site all that showed on the openning page was the code, no ticker.
Thanks

Jim - can you post it back on your site for me and let me look at what its doing? I suspect it's because you're using FrontPage to create your site. That can be a messy program when it comes to inserting code.

I will that change up in just a couple of minutes. It is just above the table of contents.
Thanks

Jim - Looked at your page and then looked at your code. The problem is FrontPage... its taken that little code snippet I gave you and reconstituted it into something entirely different.
If there's a way to paste that code into FrontPage and publish it without FrontPage trying to change it around, then it might still work. Short of that, I'm afraid for FrontPage publishers, this code may not run on your sites.

Paul,
Thanks, I have tried inserting the script in the page several ways and none have worked. If you find a way to do this in FrontPage please let me know.

Jim,
I have used frontpage to create the WIG website and have a scrolling marque on it. It has not given me any problems. I can send you the code when I get back to my computer next week.

The news ticker is great, I just wish it didn't scroll the forum page. I think it would be better if it was only on the home page.

I was thinking it was a little much on the forum as well. I moved it to appear on just the homepage to try that out a bit. We'll find a nice spot for it eventually.

I think it's a nice touch to the website Paul.
Having it on the home page seems like a good place for it, like stated before.

Paul,
Is there a way to slow it down a notch or two? It's just a hair fast for my eyes!

Tim -
If you hover your mouse over any of the text it should stop dead in its tracks.

Too cool, Paul. Yet another reason to like this site.

Just for information - there seems to be a browser requirement for the news ticker to work. I cannot see it in Mozilla on Windows, or Mozilla or Netscape 4.7 on UNIX (Sparc Solaris). It works just fine in IE on Windows, though, and those are the only combinations I've tested. Just thought I'd mention it, since my vote was "What News Ticker?"...

Thanks for the heads-up Andrew. I'll have a techie guy I know give it a look.

Well, either you've got a good techie guy or I'm suffering hallucinations - it's working now on Mozilla/Solaris. Neat!

Is there another way to access the Fayetteville online petition? Clicking on the ticker produced the following message:
"you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
Thank you,

Hi, Dusty,
You must have special government top secret clearance. I still get the same message, even through the preservation forum.

Any chance you could make the ticker move a little faster (not a lot, but some)? Seems I'm always waiting for the next words to show up.

make it move faster...Yep, a little faster would be better. I like that it stops when I "hover" the cursor.
