Can anyone shed some light on the use of the McEvoy patent knapsack in the field after 1862? It's pictured in the Pictoral Encyclopedia of Civil War Medical Instruments and Equipment, Vol. II, by Dr. Gordon Dammann.

I understand that this particular design was an improvement on the canvas-covered wicker knapsacks used by medical officers, and that it was supplanted in 1863 by a sachel-type design, but I am curious as to its frequency on the battlefield from '62 onward. Also, if anyone can direct me to some more information on medical field equipment I would be very grateful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Best,

Does anyone reproduce a correct adhesive plaster? There's a picture of one in Dammann's vol. 2 on p. 37, but I can't tell from it how it's made. Any thoughts?
