Cones

In my travel down the road for a more reliable firing Euroarms '61 Springfield, I am searching for sources for cones.
I searched the archives for dimensions on the cones, but have come up short. What I'm looking for is a non-NSSA, or "hotter" cone for my Springfield(apologizies to Curt---he'd corrected me already).
I emailed Lodgewood, but Bill said he didn't carry them. Since talking with both he and Curt I have re-taken the road in search.
What I have found in website after website that I have visited is that they are carried in both an American standard of measurement as well as metric. Would anyone know the size I would need for a hotshot type of cone for the Euro '61 Springfield and a source?

A number of our folks have had issues with the '61 Euro Springfield not igniting properly. I don't know how long ago you purchased yours, but this seems to be a recent issue. Briefly, we found that there was a small amount of rough metal slag that needed to be removed from just inside the clean out screw. A pin, or small screwdriver, somewhat smaller than the opening, can be used to dislodge this junk and get the rifle firing right.

We hear the discussion of hotter cones and better brands of caps from time to time, and there may be some instances to which those issues apply. The problem is usually not with the cone itself, but somewhere else in or around the vent. And going to a larger aperture cone can have unpleasant results.

Regimental Quartermaster (shudder) sells parts for the Euro Springfield. I bought a couple extra cones from them. They don't have the flat finish of the stock item, are supposedly easier to clean, but seem to work fine.

At one point I wondered whether there was some slag left over when they drilled out the hole into the barrel. When firing 60-70 grains, I experienced misfires, yet when I increased the amount to between 75-80(experimenting at home), the misfires were less frequent.
Like many I had gone through the mental checklist of slag in the barrel, residue in chamber, I had considered that perhaps it was the angle of the hole, had backed off the cone to create more travel distance for the spark.....all that, and finally came to the conclusion that perhaps I would start with the more simplistic solution and work forward.
Therfore, looking for a cone with a little larger diameter at the base and we'll see what transpires. Hopefully it won't be a small mushroom cloud as you suggest.
BTW, I bought mine from Zimmerman about 2-3 yrs. ago.

I have seen some cones advertised on Falls Creek sutlry that has a larger aperture.
Haven't tried it myself but . Thought I would mention it.
