Is there anyone that makes period correct rope (for Short rolls, Shelter Tents, etc.)? I am in need of rope but I do not know of any good vendors. I am in need of quarter inch rope, or perhaps a bit smaller. Forgive me if I am oblivious to a certain vendor.
Thanks ahead of time,
K Bartsch

The power of "Google" gives us...
462 feet (which ought to meet your short roll and shelter tent needs) of .24" natural hemp rope made with no modern chemicals or materials of any kind in Romania -- where they made "Cold Mountain," :wink_smil for only $54.

Phil Cavanaugh of The Haversack Depot also has plenty of it on hand.

Ropesmith has a good reputation in the hobby for laid hemp rope, and is the material maker for several well known retail vendors. I have one of their hemp lariats and as the period references state, it's a heck of a strong line for its diameter. Used it last weekend on a mule packsaddle, which is not the express intended purpose, but it works well:
