Due to the rain and nasty weather along the east coast, the local ABC news TV station herein Washington, DC, mentioned this morning that the weather in Charleston, SC on 12 Apr 1861 was a rainy, dreary day.
Rather appropriate, I think, for the day that is generally acknowledged as the opening round of a nation tearing itself apart.
