I just bought a union shell jacket from Quartermaster sutler. Before any of you start snikering, it's all i could afford, and it's real period correct, in construction and look. One wrong thing though, they got my meausurements balucksed up and the shoulders are way to big! Would this have been common to have found a 2nd LT in the Army of the Gulf, with an ill fitting shell jacket used as a Fatigue jacket? If not, there went $230 down the drain!

$230 for a skinner row type jacket? I hate to break this too ya, but Charlie Childs sells completed CS jackets for as little as a few dollars more. I don't think that he would charge too much more for a completed US jacket. Caveat Emptor! Now you got a jacket that is probably not very correct when you look closely, and the pattern is probably not right, and the wool is probably low grade. It also doesn't fit you right. Send it back and ask for a refund since they messed up the cutting.
