These men are identified to have been members of the famed Irish Brigade. The photo was taken at Harrison's Landing, VA in July of 1862.

Jim,

Most of these photos from civilwarphotos.net are also found throught the Library of Congress website, www.loc.gov which are better cited & many times contain the super tifs which produce the excellent details we've seen in recent months.

Check out the attachment from the LoC version of this photo:

3 of the men appear to be in non-military dress, the two seated appear to be men of the cloth, perhaps chaplains/preists of the regiment, but uncertain.

Interesting none the less...

The Priest seated on the right is Reverend William Corby, csc, Chaplain 88th NY. Seated to his left is Reverend James Dillon, csc, Chaplain 69th NY.

Both were identified from photographs contained in: William Corby, csc, Memoirs of Chaplain Life, Three years with the Army of the Potomac.
