Hallo Kameraden!

Question...?

Would there be any AC Forum interest for a "QHT" (Quickie How To) or suggestions thread on altering the M1841 to any of the post 1855-1862ish .58 "versions?"

I am about to do an arsenal as well as a Colt "conversion, and thought I could post some "easy words and resources" for anyone who wanted a "more CWish" alternate to the repro "Mex War" version out of the box (not that the early configuration did not see service- just for something more "personalized and unique," or a version research and documentation calls for for one's unit or personal impression.)

Ja? Nein? Vielleicht?

There are so many varients I can't keep them straight. Go for it! Shame the only time they can be used is in LH events.

I use my 1841 rifle often, enjoy it very much, and would greatly appreciate such a handy how-to article. If it wouldn't be too much to ask, could you please add in a photograph of the correct maintenance tools which were issued for this fine weapon?

While I have the references and "artifacts," this Luddite does not know how to post images here. (If someone would/could e-mail me a "how to" or instructions, in a discreet brown paper wrapper, for posting pictures- I would give it a try).

I will put together a four part QHT for:

1. M1841's with late model M1855 Rifle-Musket rear sights, etc.
2. M1841's with early model M1855 Rifle rear sights, etc.
3. M1841 Colt contract conversions, etc.
4. M1841 tools
