I need to move all of this PRONTO because I'm moving soon. Not a total cleansing but I want to get rid of some stuff I no longer use.
GARMENTS!
1.) Schuylkill arsenal unlined fatigue blouse. Made by Dan Wambaugh from his own pattern based on originals. This blouse is really top-notch and is hand-sewn with logwood dyed cotton thread throughout. LOTS of visible felling and topstitching. Made from older FHW 10 oz. flannel which is a strong "dark dark" blue. I've worn this for about three or four years with no problems; nothing is wrong with the blouse and I've never had to mend it! I added a hand-sewn exterior square pocket before Pickett's Mill and it's still on there. With brass buttons from Military Warehouse. SIZE 38-40 COMFORTABLY, WILL FIT A 42 WITH VERY SLIGHT TIGHTNESS. Asking only $125 for this blouse which includes shipping.
2.) Schuylkill Arsenal U.S. Sharpshooter trowsers. Made by Dan Wambaugh to the common S.A. infantry trowser pattern. These trowsers are made from custom woven FHW dark green kersey (21 oz.) and are lined with cotton duck. Appropriate stamps are inside. Machine-sewn long seams with all visible stitches sewn carefully by hand with logwood dyed cotton thread. Paper-backed stamped tin buttons. This is an unorthodox item to own but I have two pairs and want to sell one. Size 36 waist, no idea what the inseam is but I'm sure it proportionate. Used once or twice and still in great shape! Asking $140 which includes shipping.
3.) Geo. Hoff contract U.S. Sharpshooter cap. Made by Joel Bohy from imported Hainsworth rifle-green doeskin broadcloth. Lined with brown polished cotton, sweatband is brown leather, visor and chinstrap are both treated correctly and have a nice shine. This cap was made to order and is based on an original U.S.S.S. cap owned in the war by Sgt. J.T. Schermerhorn (Co. H 1st Regt). Will fit a size 24" head. New, unused, unworn, just sitting on top of my shelf with my other caps. Asking only $100, $15 less than what I paid for and I will include shipping in the price.
4.) Hot-dipped tin mess pan. I have no idea who made this but I've had it for a year or two and have never used it. I would judge it to be 10"-12" across and 2" deep. Very nice pan! ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT
5.) Federal overcoat, made by Dan Wambaugh from FHW sky blue kersey. Lined in the body with Ben Tart logwood dyed jean cloth, lined in the sleeves with cotton drill. Machine-sewn with hand finished sleeve linings and buttonholes. New, used once, will fit over a size 40 or 42 coat, blouse, or jacket. This is a very nice overcoat and incredibly warm! Asking $325 which includes shipping.
6.) Knit wool undershirt. I made this earlier in the year from hand-dyed machine-knit wool but it did not turn out precisely how I wanted it. I'm pretty precise about this kind of stuff. Firstly, this shirt is cut to the Louisiana shirt pattern; the chest is a 40. The sleeves have been altered a bit so they are not as long as the original pattern and they are narrower but they still turned out longer and wider than I wanted them to. Secondly, the shirt is sewn with indigo cotton thread for some nice contrast which is pretty attractive. It has a small two-button placket with small white china buttons, no buttons on the cuffs since the material stretches where it is supposed to. The collar and cuffs are left raw but the material is so well fulled that it will not fray and not unravel at all, at any time. The bottom half of the shirt is a piece of cotton flannel. This shirt can be very easily altered, added to, taken apart, etc. I have worn it only once and it was very comfortable and looked pretty great too. Asking $50 which includes shipping.
7.) Drawers. Civilian pattern, fly, leg cuff ties, rear tie adjustment. Made from canton flannel and machine-sewn with French seams, hand-sewn buttonholes. Four glass buttons total, two on the waistband and two on the fly. These were worn once at TAG last October and a few of the seams have busted out but nothing needs mending. Just washed, clean but with a few dirt stains on the knees. Will fit a 34" waist comfortably. ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT
FABRICS!
8.) 2 1/2 yards of 45" wide dark brown wide-wale cotton corduroy. Perfect for work trousers or a really nasty civilian sack coat. ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT
9.) 3 1/4 yards of 60" wide white canton flannel. Made by Family Heirloom Weavers. Unwashed, never cut. Use for under-shirts or drawers. ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT
10.) 4 yards of 45" wide printed cotton. The cotton is off-white with a dark blue print which creates a small pin-stripe and dotted pattern that runs lengthwise of the fabric. I think with the stripes this would make a really awesome 1850's pleated shirt. ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT
11.) 2 1/4 yard long by 2 yard wide light-weight cotton drill with woven narrow dark blue stripe. I bought this to make a CS issue shirt from it but never had time to do anything with it. Plenty here for a complete shirt! Asking $20 including shipping.
12.) Just over 2 yards of 60" wide natural 100% wool flannel. This is not the shelf-bought flannel but something a bit coarser. I would judge it to be about 8 oz per yard. Asking $25, including shipping.
13.) Just over 3 yards of 39" wide rust/black striped wool from Family Heirloom Weavers. This cloth was purchased a few months ago and washed with intentions to turn it into civilian pants but I never got around to it. The material did shrink a bit and the black yarns shrunk a little more than the rust colored yarns created an interesting "seersucker" bumpy wavy thing in the cloth. This could make a nice child's winter jacket or overcoat or an interesting pair of civilian pants. Asking $35, including shipping.
I accept checks and money orders only. Items purchased with checks will be held until the check clears. First-come first served on everything! Mail me directly at autodestructo@hotmail.com.
