ladies and gentlemen,
I am a mississippian calvary trooper, and was wondering if anyone had a source, or information on a mississippi state flag. was it the magnolia flag, or is that the battle flag. I have tried the search engine, and come up empty every time. thanks.

Tyler,
You might consider contacting Old Capitol Museum (http://www.mdah.state.ms.us/new_museum/index.html) of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. It is the caretaker for many of Mississippi's wartime banners.

Try "Flags of the Confederacy"--it's the best site of its kind on the Web:
http://www.confederateflags.org/states/FOTCmississippi.htm
Also this site:

The short answer is the wartime Mississippi state flag was not
the "battle flag" or any of its variants. The Mississippi state flag, as it currently flies, was not adopted until 1894.

Just understand that the Mississippi Department of Archives & History is still in its recovery processes after Hurricane Katrina, but they are very helpful folks.
