The Authentic Campaigner is pleased to announce our February Bully Buy: Federal Shelter Tents from Adam Cecil of the Quartermaster Stores.
Federal Shelter Tents:
Our tents are the three panel "Type IIa" Shelter Tents. Occasionally, "piecing" is utilized in construction. Cotton drill sewn with cotton and linen thread. Bone Buttons. Regulation size so all of our tents will button together. Mr Frederick Gaede, Author of "The Federal Civil War Shelter Tent" was consulted for this project, and I believe these are as faithful a representation as is on the market today.

Type IIIa Shelter Tent
This two piece tent is constructed with blue line sail cloth, linen thread and bone buttons.

Type IIIb Shelter Half
These late war shelter tents are the same as the type IIIa except they have tin-backed tin buttons and an extra rope loop along the bottom of the center seam in order to secure it better to the ground.
