Rounds Do we need them, and how many? Yes, each participant should bring 70 properly rolled and bundled rounds for the event. Come on site with a CLEAN MUSKET. Get your lock checked and problems taken care of before the event, I would hate to see someone sit this thing out because of a spring.

Bully Buy? Thanks to Dan Wambaugh there will be a bully buy for this event. The link to the bully buy with Dan can be found here http://www.wwandcompany.com/vksbgjkts.html

As of right now, nothing has come to terms for a federal bully buy. Any vendor who would be interested in offering one, please contact me. Issue shirts, contract shirts, blankets, shelter halves etc will all be considered.

Got Books? I have been answering a few questions on which books to pick up for this and here is my list.

"Ninety Eight Days: A Geographer's View of the Vicksburg Campaign" by Warren E. Grabau

"Triumph and Defeat: The Vicksburg Campaign" By Terrence Winschell (Chief Historian of Vicksburg)

'Triumph and Defeat: The Vicksburg Campaign Vol II" By Terrence Winschell

"The Vicksburg Campaign Vol 1-3" by Edwin Bearss

Thanks for the book list...didn't know about 'Triumph and Defeat: The Vicksburg Campaign Vol II" By Terrence Winschell

Can add one more that would be subject to discussion is Timothy B. Smith's book: Champion Hill: Decisive Battle For Vicksburg it's full of maps that show possitions of the 2oth Alabama in that battle.

Thanks for the updates and extra info...the hardest thing will be WAITING for the event to get here!:D

Respectfully:

I own "Vicksburg, The Campaign That Opened The Mississippi" by Michael B. Ballard, not a bad read, also, "Vicksburg is the Key" by William L Shea & Terrence J. Winschel, good also, hits the high points if you don't have alot of reading time.

I have to agree with "Champion Hill" by T.B. Smith, it is one hell of a book, and tells about what you have been through before the great seige. You won't be sorry you picked this book up, putting it down is the hard part!!

These are good recommendations, but for a little broader background, I heartily recommend Steven Woodworth's Nothing But Victory: The Army of the Tennessee, 1861-1865 for a good look at the army's adventures all the way back to Cairo...

While I don't think there's a price reduction, Chris is also working on a run of state jackets if you want to get in line... sort of a double deal for the suckers at Shiloh and the buckeyes at Vicksburg...

Might want to add the 3 volume set by Ed Bearss. I think they are the most comprehensive books on the Vicksburg campaign.

Hey Robert,
That set is actually included in my first post. I would suggest that to anyone.
