Referrals? What do they mean??

Hello reader,

I guess this Folder is the right place for questions about the technicalities of Forum? Mods feel free to relocate if I am incorrect.

I was just curious what the "Referrals" mean? The small notification can be seen underneath the "Find All Threads" link when you are looking at any profile. I was not able to locate any threads about it in the "Search" function.

No biggy, but I was just curious since it is applicable to all users. :rolleyes:

Jason, if I remember correctly, when you register as a new user there is a spot to put the username of another member if they referred you to the site.

It was a developing concept for a few years ago intended to maybe help resolve some of the issues around increased numbers of unwanted postings by Children, Kinder Trolls, Trolls, Shills, Hacks, Sundry Flame Bait Posters, Persons Solely with Disruptive or Personal Attack Agendas, Miscellaeneous Cretins, Known and Unknown Agitators, Persons with certain Mental Illnesses and Personality Disorders, etc., etc. :) :) :)

Seriously, the theory was that if a "known" person or "demonstrated quality poster" had referred someone, it might help confirm or assure that the new member would make a "good addition" the AC Forum Community. And be a real person and not just an assumed identity taken to be able to post and cause trouble. Etc., etc.
