We normally don't do that here.

Its like going to church and inviting the congregation to come visit the synagogue across the street.

No ecuminism here. The sinner must first convert before entering the temple. :wink_smil

Sounds like an interesting unit, and if I were on the east coast would probably look into it. Why would it not be something to subscribe to for a new unit to advertise a bit? I mean as long as the by-laws they have and their portrayal is to the upmost degree of accuracy in the hobby.

Thanks

Hmmm.... not sure I understand the implication. Either it means that anyone desiring to post recruiting info is automatically considered a mainstreamer, therefore an outsider not in communion with the C/H/P philosophy, or it is just considered poor form to recruit among those who already belong to an established group. If the latter, then it doesn't make much sense in a passtime where many people do multiple impressions and often hold memberships in several different organizations. I'm not critisizing the decisions of the mods... just trying to understand why recruiting posts are not "normal" here. The religious analogy used above makes no sense to me. It's like saying that artillerymen would never visit friends and aquaintences in an infantry camp because they belong to a different arm of the service. :confused_

For those of us who serve in the modern military and move frequently I think having a "recruiting depot" file here at A/C would be a boon to those of us looking for like-minded C/P/H'ers in a new location we are being stationed at or sent long-term TAD to.

We used to maintain an extensive list of progressive / hardcore units within the hobby and it was a nightmare to administrate - what with all the group POC's sending me emails saying such and such unit sucks and don't belong on the list.

It put us in the unenviable position of having to make judgement calls about the so-called authenticity of groups we'd never even seen in the field... it was a "mess" (in the non-period sense of the word).

I've recently suggested a new contacts list among the other moderators but we haven't reached consensus yet on the best way to administrate it.

Until that point, I think it's best to keep recruitment stuff off the forums as it'll only lead to pissing matches, on and off the forums.

Hello Mr. Calloway,

I understand, and know you fellas want to keep this forum as a powerhouse of knowledge for material and social info of the era.

For some reason I had thought the forum was founded by members of one paricular unit, and would only subscribe to that unit in recruiting opportunaties.

Thanks for all your hard work,

I hadn't looked at it that way. Good reasons all. Excelsior!
