Question on gear for Pittsburg Landing

I have read the regulations for gear and uniforms for the upcoming Pittsburg Landing LH but find myself stuck on one item. The guidelines state that the only approved haversack is the US tarred type, but the recent posting by CJ Daley lists his State Issue (blue line) canvas bag as an approved Bully Buy for the event.

It isn't a big deal, as I have one of each already, but I want to make sure I pack along the one that will pass muster.
