Union Mills (http://mainecav.org/union) July 10-11, 2004

Troops of the Army of the Potomac’s Sixth Corps, most of which arrived too late to take part in the fighting at Gettysburg, now have the unenviable task of escorting Confederate prisoners to the rail-head at Westminster, Maryland. Progress is slow and supplies are late in arriving, due to the fighting shifting further west. As a result, the column has stopped at Union Mills to obtain supplies from the surrounding countryside. Sniffing profits, the regimental sutler, as well as local citizens have, come forth to do business with the army. Meanwhile, the weary soldiers look forward to a few days of rest from marching in the burning July heat.

Impression guidelines for Civilians and Federal are now posted. CS guidelines are partially up and still in the works.

We still need Confederates! The Potomac Legion (primarily the 83rd PA and the 1st MN) is on board, AGSAS is coordinating the civilians, a good sutler (Ertel & Macintosh) and Chuck Raugh's medical setup - but we need some good CS impressions to round things out.

Only a month to go!

The march route is set, guidelines are posted, sacrifices to the weather gods are ready, everything is GO!

If you wish to attend, simply email us, meet the guidelines, and be there early enough Saturday to join the march.

More information is at: http://mainecav.org/union[/QUOTE]

To all that participated in our little event - thank you very very much.

Public response was very positive, actually glowing! the homestead was very happy; and the weather gods sent big beaming smiles down on us - till Tim and Mac started packing - but you know those weather gods, always kidding around.

Planning has begun for September 10-11, 2005 when we'll have access to the interior of the house and are working toward a more immersive event for the participants. High quality civillians and Federal troops will be needed.

Some images have been posted at: http://mainecav.org/union and information on next year's event will be posted at the same location.

Again, thanks to all that supported us at Union Mills.
