Early on in the planning stages of the event, the left over money was to be donated for removal of trees. After several discussions with members of the park, and careful consideration the remaining money from the event will not be donated for the reclamation of historic tree lines. Fact is the remaining funds would be so small (in their figures) that it would hardly even cover the cost of having the area studied before clearing. So where does that leave the remaining money?

WELL- as many of you know and have commented on through this forum or directly the state, and in some cases the impressions of the volunteers working at the National Parks are pretty low, so with that in mind the remainder of the money is going to go back to the Interpretive Programs at Vicksburg. The idea is to help the park supply items they need but are not budgeted for to help them get on our standards- because despite what some think, John Q. Public sometimes knows that those fellas out there sometimes don't look like those fellas in the pictures in the books and museums as far as dress goes.

Vicksburg by all accounts is what is known as an Urban park, meaning the city pretty much surrounds the perimeter of the park and a remainder of an event fund would be a penny in the wishing well, so it's my goal to leave this interpretive program in a little better shape than it already stands in right now.
Also- I'm opening this up to any vendor or individual who might want to donate an item to this effort. Through some work with one AC vendor I was able to secure 6 caps for this effort, and if a vendor doesn't want to be known for giving out freebies, I won't mind keeping the list confidential, after all I understand they are running a business.

So, Got a jacket or trousers you don't use much? An old canteen? An old haversack? Old accoutrements? Contact me off forum. Either via email at westernpicket63@yahoo.com or PM me for an available phone number.

Wanted to pump this effort to the top again. So far I have been contacted by 3 approved vendors. Send me an email if you have anything to contribute. I understand shirts are in high demand as are trousers.

Headgear has been covered with a donation of 6 kepis.
