From the Galveston Daily News - May 8, 1869, Page 2. See attached. The U.S., as financial successor to the Confederacy, tried to sue McRae in an English court for benefit of money or goods received on behalf of the C.S. They failed to prove their case.

Neill or Allen - I wonder if either one of you would be able to share with us how early the McRae papers and correspondence date. Obviously we have one invoice already posted here from August of 61, Just something I've been pondering.
