    Request References

If you all visit a user profile, you'll now find all the way at the bottom, a category called "References (Optional)". There are two text boxes there for you to enter names of references.

    The description reads:
Primarily for buyers and sellers. Tell us the names of some folks in the hobby who KNOW you and can verify that you are who you say you are - preferably folks who are already members in good standing here on the AC.
I'm going to be straight-forward with all of you. We have some disgruntled former users here that keep reregistering on the AC and their apparent intent is to cause acrimony here - particularly in the buy/sell/trade area. They have a long history on the NSSA boards and cwreenactors of not making good on their sales.

This reference area, editable in your User CP is NOT mandatory. But I suggest you use it, and I suggest you request sellers who you are conducting a transaction with and who you are unfamiliar with to use it.

    Re: Request References

    Dear Sir:
I am currently unable to post a "for sale" listing on the buy/sell forum and request to be allowed to do so. I have 2 valid references on my user profile, the former gentleman I have known for over 20 years, the latter for even longer, when we were both young whippersnapper fifers in the bicentennial.
I sucessfully posted and sold a ******* musket sling on the forum in June to Jeffrey Cohen, as I have not heard adversely from him since then I assume it reached him and he is happy with it.
I am a relatively new member of the forum due to protracted absence from the east coast, the country, and the continent while supporting my lovely bride who iserves in the mighty Navy of the US of A.
But I'm a 23 year Army veteran, smile!

    Re: Request References

    Paul,
I need to edit my post "Confederate Uniforms for Sale", but the edit function is missing. Essentially, as the author of the post, I need to annotate when an item has been sold, so that I don't have inquiries coming in on it. Can you help with this? Maybe fix it so that I can edit my post?
    Thanks,
    Fred Adolphus
