Proposed Subscription system (March 1, 2008)

    Folks -
We had initially planned to do this after Outpost but we've put this off as long as we can. We're in the red now. Literally, when I have to pay next months fees for this website, they will come out of my checking account. We can't put this off anymore. My wife isn't too excited about me writing checks to keep this thing going.

The plan is to offer $10 for one year or $20 for two years but if you buy the two year deal, $5 goes to the ACPP for Civil War preservation.

This was reviewed and approved by the AC Focus Group back in September and we've waited as long as we can to institute this. Unless there are major objections, I plan to put this into effect in by March 1.

    Re: Proposed Subscription system

Please review the message above. It was originally posted in the AC Focus Group back in September and has only now been moved into the public folders. As the message states, we've waited as long we can before putting this in.

It's not a mandatory system - its meant to build value into the subscription program without limiting the posting access of the non-donor to too great of an extent.

    Paul,

Do we go ahead and click the donate key to do this? If so I will be taking care of this ASAP.

    Paul,

I'll ditto what Jim asked... where do I buy in?

I also looked at your access list for the forums and topics. I would suggest here from the rear rank that the "Contacts and Recuiting" Topic would be a good one to have at least read access for non-paying members, although it should be more accessable than a subtopic in the Sinks.

When I first came snooping around the AC, I did look there for a unit to join and that would be a topic new and non-paying members would look at before they dive head first into living history.

    Just my two pennies...
