    Strange Pistol?

While browsing images at LOC, I came across this portrait and I am now wondering what type of pistol this is he's holding. At a glance it looked like a Colt Pocket or Police type pistol, but at closer glance it has a solid frame. Have not seen this weapon before.

To me it looks like a Colt 1851 US Marshal revolver, but that's just a guess.

I find it stranger yet that he looks a bit cross eyed.

    Thomas -

One eyeball is obscured with a fleck of contaminant (dirt) in the photo image, and the relatively dark area adjacent to the dirt makes the kid appear cross-eyed. A retoucher would mirror the other eye and restore as much as possible what was probably the original image, which I believe is a kid intensely staring, but not cross-eyed.

I'm no professional, but I can clean up photos.

There we go. The cross-eyed appearance is fixed.

Well, let's see if I can remove that bit 'o fly wing from his eye too. Hows about this one attached?
