    Federal Issue Halter f/s

    Gents:

I am offering herewith a reproduction Federal Issue Halter. I do not believe there is an extant original example of this rare beast (and I've spent over 30 years searching...), so this one was made precisely to the Ordnance Manual specifications and notes gleaned from my ongoing survey of extensive official correspondence. Meticulously hand-stitched with black-waxed Irish linen thread and dyed with the exact receipt from the Ordnance Manual as well (to include the nutgalls--Aleppo galls were considered the best by the Ordnance Dept., so I procured mine directly from Turkey at no small expense). All edges are hand-edged, burnished and inked and deeply hand-creased, as is typical of military horse equipments of the period.

I feel confident in stating that you cannot find a more accurate replica of the Federal halter anywhere at any price. I produced this one for my own personal use, but not having had the opportunity to do a Federal impression in quite some time, it has never been used. Simply put, it is gorgeous. Sorry to say I cannot find the lead strap I made to go with it--c'est la vie, life's like that. I am letting this go for $125 shipped to your door, and I'll even throw in a copy of my reprint of Patten's Cavalry Tactics for good measure. It's a good deal--jump on it.
