    M1858 Federal Forage Cap

    Here are a few pics of my M1858 Forage Cap. Of particular interest is the piece of leather that attaches the Company letter to the hat. The label residue also is present on the inside of the crown. Enjoy.

    Thanks for sharing! I have a couple questions for you on the buttons.

    Are the side buttons solid or floating shank type? What diameter (mm) are the buttons? And what is the maker mark on them?
