I remember a few years back, we did a real time march through the park, and did the maneuvers of the engagements at Chickamauga. It was something that i have been wanting to do again, only on a larger scale.

We as Americans finish what we start. And dying for these Colors, or our brothers around us is no different. We will always remember the ones that have passed before us. Even though their bodies are committed to the depths their spirits live with in us and helps push for tomorrow
You can pretty much count on us to be there.

Given our relationship with the park from past events, I am sure the WIG will be interested in taking part in this effort. Lee - let me know what I can do to help.
Lee,
Do you have any plans/room to include mounted types ?
I Know I ,personally, would LOVE to participate in anything at Chickamauga again if given the chance. I am sure the rest of the Critters and friends would as well.
thanks,

We haven't really talked too awful much about a mounted segment, but I think it would be pretty cool to be able to have enough mounted men to interpret the various uses of a mounted escort company. This was something very unique to the Army of Tennessee, and according the Dave Powell's new book, The Maps of Chickamauga, escort companies for the various infantry commands were as follows:
General Headquarters (Bragg)
Escort: Druex Co. Louisiana Cavalry (68 men)
Escort: Company K, 3rd Alabama Cavalry (68 men)
Right Wing (Lt. Gen. Leonidas Polk)
Escort: Greenleaf's Company Louisiana Cavalry (33 men)
Cheatham's Division (Maj. Gen. Benjamin F. Cheatham)
Escort: Company G, 2nd Georgia Cavalry (32 Men)
Hindman's Division (Maj. Gen. Thomas C. Hindman)
Escort: Company I, 3rd Alabama Cavalry (65 Men)
Hill's Corps (Lt. Gen. Daniel H. Hill)
Escort: Raum's Company Georgia Cavalry (51 men)
Cleburne's Division (Maj. Gen. Patrick R. Cleburne)
Escort: Sanders' Company Tennessee Cavalry (?)
Left Wing (Lt. Gen. James Longstreet)
Escort: Company A, 1st Louisiana Cavalry (30 men)
Buckner's Corps (Maj. Gen. Simon B. Buckner)
Escort: Clark's Company Tennessee Cavalry (20 men)
Stewart's Division (Maj. Gen. Alexander P. Stewart)
Escort: Foules' Company Mississippi Cavalry (35 men)
First Corps, Army of Northern Virginia (Maj. Gen. John Bell Hood)
Escort: Companies E and C, 1st Louisiana Cavalry (30 men)

Let's see if we can play the "guess why Joe wants to see this unit at Chickamauga" game. Joe, how are you and Foules' boy doing?
