Fort Wayne LH July 27-29, 2012

An event living history at Fort Wayne, Detroit is in the works for next year on July 27-29, 2012. This will be a semi-immersion living history but first person will be required of participants. The Fort will be open to the public and the LH will be advertised to the public for the 28th with tours available.

The impression will be the 5th Michigan Co. A who were the Sherlock Guards and were from the Wolverine Firehouse #3 in Detroit in 1861. Yup, the first 151st Anniversary event!

Please put this on your calendar to help us make this original Fort come alive.

We hosted an event there last year (Disaffected in Canada) and received many compliments and rave reviews for those that participated. This event started because of request to do another.

If you went to the event last year do not think you will be coming back to the same thing. We have many things planned all based on primary accounts.

A website and more info will be out soon.

    Jeremy,

I had a great time at the event you and the other fellows organized at Ft. Wayne last year, "Disaffected in Canada."

Garrison duty, at an original site, is hard to beat. Once you're in the fort, it is easy to forget that you're in Detroit!

For preservation, with extensive research done beforehand, it had all the elements that we should expect out of our events.

I look forward to this offering next year!

Just a bump that registration is open. The cost of registration is $25.00 or $26.50 with paypal. The registration form can be mailed or sent via e-mail.** Fee covers rations and at least a $5 donation to Historic Fort Wayne Coalition and/or sponsoring of the first 5th Michigan National Battle flag through the Save the Flags program.

I'd like to come up to this. Guess I'll check out the mileage and the calendar and see what is happening around then. Too bad I can't take in a ballgame while I'm up there though.
