Gentlemen,
Was in a neighboring Nebraska community last week (rural area near Ceresco) to shoot a photo assignment and on a whim visited the local Catholic cemetery. Could immediately see several federal style headstones, denoting Civil War veterans.
A larger private marker and its accompanying GAR flag holder and federal headstone got my attention -- It marked the final resting place of Irish-born John Mara, 1st Sgt of Co. A, 15th Iowa. His online service records say to me that he probably knew most of the men you fortunate lads will be portraying next weekend.
If I did it right, you should have snapshots attached of the grave of this native of County Tipperary.
