Comrades of Co. K, 2nd Miss Inf
I want to send by deepest thanks and gratitude for your hard work this past weekend. I knew the first time I looked upon the final roster before the event that this company would be as fine as company as any to take the field. I know leaving Saturday was a tough decision and not a man shirked, but rather chose to react to the information were given at the time. It was a truly tough decision for me to make, and I know that statement rings true all the way up the chain of command to the good Colonel Owens himself. Nobody drove that far and endured that much discomfort to leave Saturday evening but individual safety comes first and leaving that late on Sunday (according to info coming from Brigade) was not a safe option. I'll step down from the soap box and say once again what a honor it was to command the Iuka Rifles. I look forward to being in the field with each of you again.
