    500 Now Registered! Registration Closed.

    Guys,

Registration is now closed. We hit 500 registered (actually about 525 if you count the total men registered less drop outs). I am very proud of all the work you have done to this point to get your companies filled. We will be an impressive sight you can be assured. I expect us to field about 450 after drop outs, which will make the frontage of our regiment about 150 yards wide. Our camp is set to have 20 Sibleys (never seen 20 at one time before), 14 A tents, and 10 wall tents - a small town. We're making bick ovens for you to bake bread in, and we'll have the right ingredients for you to make pies if you like. Learn your bugle calls as we'll use them. It's the only way to communicate with this large of a group. And I got deliveries yesterday that you'll learn about when we're there. So many treats, so many period experiences are coming. Your staff are working their butts off around the clock to deliver alot on this one. I'm off in an hour to make 24 cans of essence of coffee, finish the labels for our sutler goods, and deliver our Minnehaha banners.

    Matt,

While we will not be on the boat with you, we will be meeting you on the other side and I have to say that every aspect of this venture (securing the boat, the Sibleys, the number of men, etc.) is simply astounding and you are to be commended. Also, all of the men who have worked to put this thing together and have done the prep work are to be lauded as well. What an accomplishment!!

Those of us of the mounted persuasion who will be portraying the 11th Illinois Cavalry and will meet you on the banks of Pittsburg Landing and serve as your escort, salute you and are honored to have a small part to play in this "reenacting milestone."

Again, great work and kudos to all involved!!

I want to thank Art Milbert, Donnie Watson and Pat Craddock for their help today getting our sutler labels finished and the essence of coffee made. That is an experience making that axle grease like stuff. According to what we made, we have enough for over 780 12 oz dippers. That should cover us Saturday morning. Thanks for all the help guys!

The bugle calls are here. The infantry calls have the precursor IGC and ISC, starting with number 79.
